Final Fantasy Resonance

Final Fantasy Resonance Espers: All Nine Unlocks

The quick answer

There are nine Espers. Siren joins through Chapter 1; the others require exploration, quests or battles. Fina and Archwitch Fina can summon them after unlocking them.

All nine Esper unlocks

Espers are summons, not the Visions your characters equip. Fina and Archwitch Fina can summon them after their unlock conditions are met. Use the appropriate character’s battle command and check the displayed resource requirement.

Esper Where and when Unlock route
Siren Chapter 1, Siren’s Tower Defeat the story boss; use Lightning and prepare for Charm.
Ramuh Chapter 2, upper Mt. Thunderclap entrance After leaving the lower mountain, loop past the road south of Zidane’s sanctum to the upper entrance. Interact with the gravestone and win.
Carbuncle Chapter 3, Ruby Cave in Olderion Read the gravestone’s riddle, collect three Ruby Fragments in order, then return. No boss fight is required.
Titan Chapter 4, Sealing Stone west of Kol Win Fledgling Battle 5 for the Gaia Hammer. Break the stone and defeat Titan.
Ifrit Airship, southern Zoldaad volcano Fly into the smoking volcano and win. Water is useful.
Shiva Airship, small island west of Mysidia Land, enter the snowstorm and defeat her.
Leviathan Airship, Olderion Complete Nichol’s Duty. The earlier Chapter 3 story battle does not unlock the summon by itself.
Odin Chapter 6, Gronoa After Fina learns Holy, complete Iron Splitter, including returning the sword to the old man in Nameless Ruins.
Bahamut Chapter 7, airship Enter the interior for the scene, speak to Evan by the helm and choose to visit the Esper. Win the battle.

These unlocks can be completed during post-story free roam. Picking up the earlier ones as you progress gives you more options along the way.

Carbuncle: three Ruby Fragments in order

  1. Southeast of Rukh Cave: between two round pools, one larger than the other.
  2. Olderion’s eastern coast: almost due east of Cave of Waters and southwest of Squall’s sanctum, near two mountains with grassy indentations.
  3. West of the seven waterfalls: west of Olderion city, cross two wooden bridges and climb the small grassy rise.

Return to Ruby Cave’s gravestone after collecting all three. Ordinary world-map sparkles are not interchangeable with the quest fragments.

Leviathan: Nichol’s Duty

Speak to Nichol in northern Olderion, then the fishermen near the shops. Visit Lake Dorr, complete the marked battle on the continent’s southeastern side, visit Cave of Waters and return to Lake Dorr.

Completing the quest awards Leviathan, an Enchanted Ring and Nichol’s stat reward.

Odin: where to return the sword

Start Iron Splitter at the Bladerain Stele gravestone after Holy has opened Gronoa’s miasma routes. You receive the Broken Sword Hilt.

Find the gravestone on the western precipice of Gronoa and defeat Odin’s Shadow, which is weak to Lightning, for the Broken Sword Blade. Then travel to Nameless Ruins and give the sword to the old man in the old castle.

Bladerain Stele is the quest’s starting point, not its hand-in destination. The old man regains Odin’s form and promises to answer Fina’s summons. You fight the shadow during the quest; you do not need another fight against the restored Odin.
