Final Fantasy Resonance

Final Fantasy Resonance Beginner Guide

The quick answer

Equip a Vision on each available character, exploit weaknesses to trigger Sweeping Stagger, and keep a healing option ready. MR training and Awakening are separate systems.

Build a turn around Stagger

Equip a Vision on every available party member, then attack enemy weaknesses. Damage and Stagger power are different: a skill that reduces the yellow gauge quickly can be more useful than a harder hit.

Stagger every enemy in the same turn to trigger Sweeping Stagger. Use the bonus turn, then choose a damaging or restorative Resonance for the situation. Keep enough MP and healing available to survive if the break does not happen in time.

Your first priorities

  1. Equip Tronn and Leah after the Mitra story event. Use items to heal before Fina joins; afterward, keep a reliable healing action available.
  2. Explore the early Sanctums for Warrior of Light, Terra and Cloud. They broaden your elemental options without requiring late-game quests.
  3. Check new enemies’ weaknesses. Cloud’s Libra helps with information; his Lightning attacks are useful against Siren.
  4. Visit shops when you reach a new town, restock recovery items, and keep a manual save before a boss.
  5. Pick up golden Tablet Shard sparkles along the way. Bring them to the Enigmatic Princess at Oblivion Palace near Grandport.

Understand the two Vision progression systems

System How it grows What carries across characters
Mastery Rank (MR) Earn MRP with a Vision equipped; maximum MR9 in the full game Each character has their own mastery of each Vision
Awakening Use Magicite Shard, Magicite, then Magicite Cryst at a Moogle of Light The Vision’s star level is shared
Mastery Bonuses Learn them through MR, then equip them within your AP budget A character can use learned bonuses after changing Visions

A Vision’s active skills do not all remain when you unequip it. If a useful spell disappears, check your current Vision before assuming your save is broken.

Explore without over-grinding

You do not need to master every early Vision before advancing. Later enemies offer better training opportunities. Keep the skills your current objective needs, and rotate a maxed Vision when you want more bonuses.

For full equipment collecting, check shops before changing chapters: some stock is replaced. The trophy route’s “no missable trophies” does not mean every conversation or shop item stays available forever.

Common early roadblocks

  • Umbra seems impossible: the first encounter is a scripted loss.
  • A Citrine Pot keeps recovering: use an Ether on the enemy pot instead of attacking.
  • Siren takes control of your party: prepare Charm protection, especially for your healer, and use Lightning to build Stagger.
  • A learned passive does nothing: confirm it is actually equipped and fits your AP budget.
